A Jota Aviation British Aerospace BAe-146-200 on behalf of British Airways, registration G-SMLA performing flight BA-2284 from Geneva (Switzerland) to London City,EN (UK), was nearing London when the crew decided to divert to London's Southend Airport due to a fault indication for the nose gear steering. The aircraft landed safely on Southend's runway 23.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 24 hours, then positioned to London City and resumed service performing the next day's flight BA-2285 to Geneva.
