A Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800, registration VH-YVC performing flight VA-1280 from Hamilton Island,QL to Sydney,NS (Australia) with about 160 people on board, was enroute at FL390 about 280nm northwest of Brisbane,QL (Australia) when the crew reported an unusual odour in the cabin, obviously originating from the forward galley, and decided to divert to Brisbane for a safe landing on runway 19 about 30 minutes later.

The airline reported the captain decided to divert as a precautionary measure after an unusual odour was detected from the front galley.
