A PAL Philippine Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration RP-C9924 performing flight PR-319 from Hong Kong (China) to Manila (Philippines) with 89 passengers, was descending towards Manila when the crew declared PAN reporting a cargo smoke indication. The crew continued for a safe landing on Manila's runway 06 and taxied the aircraft to the gate, where passengers disembarked normally. The crew instructed emergency services on stand by to not open the cargo doors until all passengers had disembarked. The cargo doors were subsequently opened and the cargo unloaded.

The aircraft was towed to a maintenance hangar for checks and was able to resume service about 16 hours after landing.
