An American Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N763US performing flight AA-564 from San Jose,CA to Phoenix,AZ (USA) with 125 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute at FL390 about 110nm northeast of Los Angeles,CA (USA) when the crew reported a hydraulic failure and decided to divert to Los Angeles, the crew subsequently reported smoke in the cabin affecting the passengers, the oxygen masks were manually released for the passengers. The crew believed the smoke was related to the hydraulic failure and had dissipated while descending. The aircraft landed safely on runway 25R about 25 minutes after leaving FL390. The aircraft vacated the runway and taxied to the apron, where passengers disembarked normally.

The airline reported a mechanical problem, a maintenance team is inspecting the aircraft.

Los Angeles Fire Department reported two passengers asked for medical treatment for respiratory irritation.
