Allegiant MD83 at Allentown on Feb 3rd 2016, burst both left main tyres on landing

An Allegiant Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83, registration N877GA performing flight G4-624 from Orlando Sanford,FL to Allentown,PA (USA) with 152 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Allentown's runway 24 but came to a stop with both left hand main tyres blown and was disabled on the runway. The crew requested emergency services to respond and queried tower whether they would see anything. Tower advised they were not able to see anything, the trucks were rolling. Emergency services subsequently advised that both left main tyres were blown, there was no smoke and no leaks. The passengers disembarked onto the runway and were bussed to the terminal.

The runway was closed for about 3 hours until mechanics were able to tow the aircraft to the apron.

A passenger reported that after touch down there was a jolt, in hindisght probably the first tyre blowing, followed by a second jolt, obviously the second tyre blowing, followed by vibrations and smell of burning rubber.
