A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A340-300, registration TC-JDN performing flight TK-160 from Mauritius (Mauritius) to Antananarivo (Madagascar), was on approach to Antananarivo's runway 29 but touched down about 50 meters/150 feet short of the runway threshold on the paved surface of the runway end safety area at about 19:13L (16:13Z). The aircraft rolled out without further incident and came to a stop with a punctured left main tyre.

On Jan 28th 2016 the French BEA reported based on notification by Madagascar's Accident Investigation Board (AIB), that the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by Madagascar's AIB. The left main gear, outboard aft tyre, contacted the ILS localizer antenna runway 11 and was punctured also causing damage to the localizer antenna, the right main gear contacted runway threshold lights and destroyed a light. The aircraft sustained minor damage forcing it to remain on the ground for more than 24 hours for the necessary repairs, the ILS runway 11 was out of service for several days.
