A Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400, registration G-VGAL performing flight VS-44 from Las Vegas,NV (USA) to London Gatwick,EN (UK), had requested to cross the Atlantic at FL350 but was assigned FL360. The aircraft was enroute at FL360 near N56 W34 when the crew received indication of low fuel temperatures and requested a descent to FL350 to return into warmer air. ATC cleared the flight to FL350 but advised lower levels were not available due to traffic unless an emergency was declared. The crew declared PAN and continued the descent to FL330, then to FL310 until reaching sufficiently warm air that the low fuel temperature indication ceased. The flight continued to destination without further incident and landed safely.
