A United Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N772UA performing flight UA-941 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was enroute at FL360 about 200nm west of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew reported a medical emergency and decided to turn around and divert to Shannon. A male passenger in his early fifties with a cardiac history suffered symptoms of a heart attack and was administered oxygen and provided with medication by a doctor on board. The aircraft dumped fuel on the way to Shannon and landed safely on Shannon's runway 24 about 45 minutes after turning around. The patient was taken to a hospital.

The aircraft continued after about 130 minutes on the ground and is estimated to reach Chicago with a delay of 3:40 hours.
