Local media suggest the engine problem may have been the result of a bird strike.
A replacement Wamos Boeing 747-400 registration EC-MDS was dispatched to Lahore and reached Riyadh the following morning with a delay of 12 hours.
The occurrence aircraft, leased in from Onur Air, is still on the ground (standing Jan 14th 2016), a replacement engine has arrived, the engine change is currently in progress.
