A Calm Air Saab SF-340B, registration C-GMNM performing flight MO-558 from Coral Harbour,NU to Rankin Inlet,NU (Canada) with 6 people on board, was enroute at FL220 when the crew heard a bang and the #1 engine (CT7-9B, left hand) overtemperature indication illuminated with ITT readings increasing to 1080 degrees and the torque dropping to zero. The crew shut the engine down, declared emergency and continued for a safe landing in Rankin Inlet.

The Canadian TSB reported the engine is being replaced.
