An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 767-300, registration JA610A performing flight NH-823 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Taipei (Taiwan) with 198 people on board, was enroute at FL320 about 125nm northwest of Okinawa (Japan) when the crew reported haze in the cockpit and decided to divert to Okinawa. The aircraft landed safely on Okinawa Naha Airport's runway 36 about 25 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 767-300 registration JA609A was dispatched to Okinawa and reached Taipei with a delay of 16 hours.

The airline reported the cause of the smell/haze is under investigation.

The occurrence aircraft positioned to Tokyo's Haneda Airport the following day landing at Haneda 24 hours after landing in Okinawa, but has not resumed service yet 29 hours after landing in Okinawa.
