An Iberia Express Airbus A320-200, registration EC-JFH performing flight IB-3965 from Vigo,SP to Madrid,SP (Spain), was climbing out of Vigo's runway 20 when the right hand engine (CFM56) emitted a streak of flame. The crew was able to keep the engine operating, continued the climb to FL300 and reached Madrid on schedule.

The airline confirmed the passenger saw a "flash" as result of a "normal failure" of the engine which did not affect operation of the engine or aircraft.

The occurrence aircraft has not yet resumed service 5 hours later.
