A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration LN-RKS performing flight SK-945 from Stockholm (Sweden) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 146 passengers and 10 crew, was enroute at FL360 about 160nm southwest of Sondrestrom/Kangerlussuaq (Greenland) when a coffeemaker suffered an electrical short circuit blanking out cabin lighting, too, and a burning electrical odour developed on board, which subsequently dissipated. The crew decided to divert to Sondrestrom as a precaution and landed safely about 40 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Sondrestrom for about 20 hours, then continued to Chicago as flight SK-6901 and reached the destination with a delay of 21 hours.
