A Jetblue Airbus A320-200, registration N708JB performing flight B6-493 from Boston,MA to Denver,CO (USA) with 145 people on board, departed Boston's runway 27 and was in the initial climb when tower advised the crew there was smoke trailing the aircraft as it departed, the crew advised no assistance was needed. Upon contact departure the crew advised they had a little problem on board, dparture advised tower had just called in having observed smoke from the left hand engine (V2527). The aircraft levelled off at 3000 feet, the crew reported they could not get their gear up. Upon contacting approach the crew advised there were no engine problems, the left engine was running entirely normally, however, they had a hydraulic problem and expected a normal landing. The aircraft landed safely on Boston's runway 33L about 10 minutes after departure. After landing ground control commented that the gear doors were nearly touching the ground (basically identifying an alternate gear extension had occurred), the crew explained yeah that was due to the loss of the hydraulic and taxied the aircraft to the gate.

A replacement A320-200 registration N828JB reached Denver with a delay of 95 minutes.
