A Jazz Canadair CRJ-200, registration C-FZJA performing flight QK-8445 from Vancouver,BC to Fort McMurray,AB (Canada) with 19 people on board, was on approach to Fort McMurray descending through about 5000 feet when the crew selected flaps at 8 degrees but received a flaps caution indication and the flaps remained retracted. Due to fuel considerations the crew decided to divert to Edmonton,AB (Canada) where the aircraft performed a safe flaps up landing at a higher than normal speed.

The Canadian TSB reported that maintenance cleaned and lubricated the flap drive core.
