An American Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N833AW performing flight AA-1889 from Charlotte,NC to Hartford,CT (USA) with 114 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing through FL220 when the crew stopped the climb after a bird impacted and cracked a windshield and decided to divert to Philadelphia,PA, where the aircraft landed safely about 35 minutes later.

A replacement A320-200 registration N127UW reached Hartford with a delay of 2:15 hours.

The FAA reported the A319 struck birds enroute resulting in windshield damage and diverted to Philadelphia.
