A passenger reported that after landing the captain announced there had been "massive smoke" in the cockpit during the final approach, after reaching the parking position all power was shut down, no ground power supply active. Emergency services checked the aircraft, about 5 minutes later the passengers disembarked.
The airline reported that they can not confirm smoke development during the final approach, however, the crew observed a malfunction of the heat exchanger of the right hand air conditioning system. The crew continued for a safe landing without problems, taxied to the parking position and shut down all power as a precaution. Only then an electrical odour was noticed on the flight deck. Technicians were flown to Frankfurt to replace the defective part of the air conditioning system.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground until September 17th before resuming service.
