A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300, registration N602SW performing flight WN-776 from Providence,RI to Orlando,FL (USA), was climbing out of Providence when the crew requested to level off at 4000 feet reporting they had a leading edge flap in transit indication and requested vectors to be kept in the vicinity of the aerodrome. About 15 minutes later the crew advised that the indication still continued, they were checking with the company, due to landing weight and speeds needed a longer runway than Providence was needed and they considered to divert to Bradley or Boston. The crew subsequently set course to divert to Hartford,CT (Bradley Airport), where the aircraft landed on runway 24 at a higher than normal speed about one hour after departure.
