Mukah Emergency services reported there were no injuries and no damage.
Malaysia's Ministry of Transport released their final report into the occurrence as well as another occurrence, see Incident: MASWings DHC6 at Marudi on Aug 27th 2016, runway excursion, releasing following findings:
- Weather was reported moderate rain with wet runway condition, Crew did not plan for hydro planing.
- Crew did not aware of NTC (Notes To Crew)
- Nose wheel landing gear veered to the left upon contact with the runway.
The crew reported that the flight was normal until touchdown. When the nose gear touched down the aircraft veered to the left, even maximum right rudder could not stop the aircraft veering left, asymmetric power did not stop, then the crew realized the nose wheel steering tiller was fully deflected to the left, at that time the aircraft already went off the runway onto the grass.
An engineering examination did not find any fault with the nose wheel steering.
