A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A340-300, registration TC-JII performing flight TK-24 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Taipei (Taiwan), departed Istanbul's runway 35R when the crew reported problems with the landing gear and stopped the climb at 6000 feet. The aircraft entered a hold to work the checklists, subsequently dumped fuel and returned to Istanbul for a safe landing on runway 35R two hours after departure.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration TC-JDM is estimated to reach Taipei with a delay of 13 hours.
