A Vueling Airbus A320-200, registration EC-LAB performing flight VY-1816 from Barcelona,SP (Spain) to Munich (Germany), was enroute at FL380 about 100nm south of Milan Malpensa (Italy) when the crew decided to divert to Malpensa. The aircraft landed safely on Malpensa's runway 35R about 30 minutes later.

The aircraft was able to continue the journey as flight VY-181D after about 2:15 hours and reached Munich with a delay of 3 hours.

A passenger reported the crew announced the weather radar had failed while they were trying to navigate through bad weather. The aircraft landed safely in Malpensa, the weather radar was repaired, the aircraft was refueled and continued to Munich.
