An Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N13979 performing flight EV-5919/UA-5919 from Charlotte,NC to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was enroute at FL320 about 180nm southeast of Indianapolis,IN when the crew initiated an emergency descent (average rate of descent 3200 fpm) due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft subsequently diverted to Indianapolis for a safe landing about 40 minutes after leaving FL320. There were no injuries though a number of passengers complained about head ache and ear problems and were examined by medical staff at the airport.
