A Virgin Australia Boeing 777-300, registration VH-VPE performing flight VA-8 from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Brisbane,QL (Australia), had just levelled off at FL300 when the crew reported the left hand windshield had cracked and descended the aircraft to 10,000 feet. After levelling off at 10,000 feet the aircraft subsequently turned around, dumped fuel and returned to Los Angeles for a safe landing on runway 25R about 70 minutes after leaving FL300.
