An Air Tindi de Havilland Dash DHC-7, registration C-FWZV performing flight DA-802 from Lupin,NU to Yellowknife,NT (Canada), was enroute when the crew received a #3 engine (PT6A, inboard right) fire indication, a visual check did not identify any evidence of an engine fire. The crew elected to perform the engine fire drill nonetheless and shut the engine down, the fire indication ceased after the engine was shut down. A few minutes later the fire indication activated again, both fire bottles were discharged, the engine fire indication became intermittent for the remainder of the flight, the aircraft landed safely in Yellowknife.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found the fire loop crossed.
