A Trans States Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N839HK performing flight AX-2910/UA-2910 (dep Jul 7th) from Denver,CO to Traverse City,MI (USA) with 45 people on board, was on approach to Traverse City when the crew aborted the approach at 3000 feet and entered a hold reporting problems with the flaps. About 15 minutes later the crew decided to divert to Grand Rapids,MI (USA), climbed to 15,000 feet and landed safely on Grand Rapid's runway 08R at a higher speed than normal.

Traverse City's longest runway 10/28 features a length of 2100 meters/6900 feet, Grand Rapids' longest runway is 3050 meters/10000 feet long.
