Westjet B737 near Winnipeg on Jun 29th 2015, bomb hoax causes injuries during evacuation

A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-GRWS performing flight WS-442 from Edmonton,AB to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 54 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute at FL410 about 150nm northnorthwest of Winnipeg,MB (Canada) when the flight crew was informed about a bomb threat. The crew diverted the aircraft to Winnipeg for a safe landing on runway 13 and backtracked to a holding area, where the aircraft was evacuated via slides. 6 passengers were taken to a hospital, one passenger received a serious injury, another a minor injury during the evacuation.

The airport was completely closed for 30 minutes.

A search of aircraft and luggage did not find any trace of explosive materials. Police interviewed the passengers.

The passengers were taken to hotels and rebooked onto flights the following day.

Police reported a phone call was received indicating a bomb was on board.

On Jul 2nd 2015 the Canadian TSB reported, the aircraft diverted to Winnipeg due to a reported threat against the aircraft. The aircraft landed on runway 13 and backtracked to a holding area, where the evacuation slides were deployed and all occupants were evacuated. One passenger received a serious and another passenger a minor injury during the evacuation.
