An Aircalin Airbus A330-200, registration F-OHSD performing flight SB-140 from Noumea (New Caledonia) to Sydney,NS (Australia) with about 100 passengers, was climbing out of Noumea when the crew could not fully retract the landing gear, stopped the climb and returned to Noumea for a safe landing about 15 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration F-OJSB reached Sydney with a delay of 4.5 hours and returned as flight SB-141 with part of the passengers booked back to Noumea.

An additional Airbus A320-200 registration F-OZNC was dispatched to Sydney as flight SB-142 as well to pick up the remaining passengers waiting for the return flight SB-141.
