An Air Berlin Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IOQ performing AB-2087 from Las Palmas,CI (Spain) to Zurich (Switzerland) with 103 passengers, was enroute at FL380 about 145nm northnortheast of Lanzarote,CI (Spain) when the crew turned right towards Casablanca (Morocco) and initiated a rapid descent to FL150, then turned back to the north and diverted to Faro (Portugal) for a safe landing on runway 28 about 55 minutes later.

Air Berlin reported the crew detected a beginning and developing crack in the windshield.

A radar website, as well as "aviation media" basing all their reports purely on the data of that website, caused "excitement" around the planet when they did not receive position data from the aircraft for 10 minutes as the aircraft descended out of their range - The Aviation Herald even received phone calls alerting us to another Germanwings scenario! However, there is huge difference between real world radar data and the data off that website.
