A Mesa Airlines Canadair CRJ-700 on behalf of United, registration N514MJ performing flight YV-3796 from Washington Dulles,DC to Buffalo,NY (USA) with 69 passengers and 4 crew, performed an ILS approach to Buffalo's runway 32, winds reported 250 degrees at 10 knots gusting 16 knots, touched down at about 23:40L (03:40Z Jun 8th) and rolled out. Tower instructed the crew to turn left at the end when the crew replied they had gone off the runway. The aircraft came to a stop with all gear on soft ground about 820 feet/250 meters past the runway end and about 300 feet/90 meters past the end of the paved surface of the runway end safety area. The passengers disembarked on the grass and were taken to the terminal.

The aircraft had aborted a first approach and gone around from about 2300 feet MSL about 25 minutes prior to the occurrence due to a cell crossing final approach and another approach from about 2900 feet MSL about 17 minutes prior to the occurrence.

The FAA confirmed the aircraft overran the end of the runway, there were no injuries.

The airline reported the high winds caused the occurrence.

The NTSB have opened an investigation into the occurrence.
