An Egypt Air Airbus A320-200, registration SU-GBD performing flight MS-654 from Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to Alexandria (Egypt) with 136 passengers, was enroute at FL340 about 200nm northeast of Madinah (Saudi Arabia) when the crew descended the aircraft to FL200 due to a cracked windshield and diverted to Madinah for a safe landing about one hour later.

A replacement A320-200 registration SU-GBA positioned to Madinah and reached Alexandria as flight MS-6206 with a delay of 9.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft departed Madinah as flight MS-1654 after about 17 hours on the ground and positioned to Cairo.
