A UTAir Boeing 737-500, registration VP-BFS performing flight UT-357 from Moscow Vnukovo to Samara (Russia) with 66 passengers and 6 crew, was on final approach to Samara when the crew did not receive indication all gear was down and locked, went around, worked the related checklists and performed a low approach to Samara to have the gear inspected from the ground. Observers on the ground reported all gear appeared to be down and in correct position. The aircraft positioned for another approach and landed safely about 35 minutes after the first approach.

The return flight UT-358 was cancelled.
