A United Airlines Boeing 747-400, registration N171UA performing flight UA-869 from San Francisco,CA (USA) to Hong Kong (China), was enroute at FL340 about 530nm west of Anchorage,AK (USA) when a male passenger suffered heart problems prompting the crew to turn around and divert to Anchorage for a safe landing on runway 15 about 80 minutes later. The patient was taken to a hospital.

The aircraft departed Anchorage about 2 hours after landing and returned to San Francisco. The flight is now scheduled to reach Hong Kong with a delay of 22 hours.

A fellow passenger reported that following the diversion to Anchorage to take care of a male passenger suffering from heart problems the aircraft returned to San Francisco arriving in San Francisco at about 02:00L. The flight is scheduled to depart again at 11:00L, however, no accomodation was provided, the passengers received a ham and cheese sandwich and soft drinks.
