An Avianca Airbus A319-100, flight AV-8508 from Bogota to Monteria (Colombia), was on approach to Monteria when an engine ingested a vulture. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Monteria.

The return flight AV-8509 needed to be cancelled causing outrage amongst the passengers waiting for the return flight prompting the airport to call police in to calm things. However, the uproar culminated in two underage passengers slapping a policeman into the face resulting in an eye injury. The pair was arrested and charged.
