A Summit Air de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration C-GASB performing flight 1082 from Yellowknife,NT to Edmonton,AB (Canada) with 25 people on board, was on approach to Edmonton's runway 20 about 18nm before touchdown at around 13:26L when the crew encountered a red/white weather balloon with a black payload straight on their track, the aircraft passed 100 feet underneath the weather balloon and continued for a safe landing on runway 20.

The Canadian TSB reported the occurrence as risk of collision, the aircraft passed below the weather balloon with no collision.
