A Skywest Airlines Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of United, registration N131SY performing flight OO-5622/UA-5622 from Chicago O'Hare,IL to Hartford,CT (USA) with 75 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 130nm west of Buffalo,NY (USA) when the crew initiated an emergency descent (average rate of descent 4500fpm) reporting problems with the cabin pressure, passenger oxygen masks were not released, and diverted to Buffalo for a safe landing about 30 minutes after leaving FL370. A passenger, who had fainted presumably because of lack of oxygen, was taken to a hospital but could be discharged shortly after.

A replacement Embraer ERJ-175 registration N119SY reached Hartford with a delay of 6.5 hours.

The FAA said the crew initiated an emergency descent reporting the loss of cabin pressure. In a following maintenance examination of the occurrence aircraft no evidence of a loss of cabin pressure and no indications of anything else amiss with the aircraft were found.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted after a single passenger lost consciousness. The airline later updated their report that a total of three passengers reported having lost consciousness temporarily. The passengers were provided with oxygen by cabin crew and quickly recovered. A total of 17 passengers received medical attention at Buffalo.
