A Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N174DN performing flight DL-271 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Newark,NJ (USA) with 180 passengers and 11 crew, was descending towards Newark when the aircraft encountered turbulence prompting the crew to divert to New York's JFK Airport, NY (USA), where the aircraft again encountered turbulence on approach. The crew therefore decided to divert to Boston, where the aircraft landed safely about 80 minutes after aborting the approach to Newark. A number of passengers reported injuries requiring medical attention, two of the passengers were taken to a hospital.

Emergency services reported the injuries of the two taken to the hospital are assumed to be minor.

The occurrence aircraft reached Newark with a delay of 3.5 hours.
