A Blue Islands Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration G-ISLI performing flight SI-249 from Southampton,EN to Guernsey,CI (UK) with 27 passengers, was climbing out of Southampton when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (PW127) down and returned to Southampton for a safe landing.

A replacement ATR-42-300 registration G-ISLH reached Guernsey with a delay of 3.5 hours.
