A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A320-200, registration PR-MYV performing flight JJ-3766 from Manaus,AM to Boa Vista,RR (Brazil), was in the initial climb out of Manaus' runway 10 when an engine (CFM56) ingested a vulture and needed to be shut down. The crew levelled off at 2000 feet and returned to Manaus for a safe landing on runway 10 about 18 minutes after departure.

The engine is being replaced.

A passenger reported just after becoming airborne there was an incredible noise, the aircraft no longer climbed, a few minutes later the crew an engine had ingested an Urubu and they were returning to Manaus.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
