A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWF performing flight 4U-814 from Cologne (Germany) to Venice (Italy) with 123 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute at FL310 about 75nm north of Stuttgart (Germany) when the crew needed to shut an engine (V2524) down due to indications of a possible oil leak. The aircraft diverted to Stuttgart for a safe landing on runway 07 about 25 minutes later.

A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration D-AGWZ reached Venice with a delay of 2.5 hours.

The airline confirmed one of the engines needed to be shut down as a precaution after an engine indication suggested loss of engine oil.
