An Expressjet Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N135EV performing flight EV-5165/DL-5165 from Killeen,TX to Atlanta,GA (USA), was climbing through FL290 out of Killeen when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were released. After levelling off at 10,000 feet the crew decided to divert to Alexandria,LA (USA) for a safe landing about 35 minutes after the emergency descent.

A passenger reported the captain announced there was an issue with the air conditioning system.
