An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N893NN performing flight AA-1189 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) to Vancouver,BC (Canada), departed Dallas Ft. Worth's runway 18L when the aircraft flew through a flock of birds with a number of birds impacting the aircraft. The aircraft stopped the climb at 6000 feet and returned to Dallas for a safe landing on runway 18L about 13 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N934NN reached Vancouver with a delay of 4 hours.

The FAA reported the aircraft received damage to the radome and an engine (CFM56) when it struck birds on departure.
