An Etihad Airbus A330-300, registration A6-AFE performing flight EY-612 from Casablanca (Morocco) to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) with 205 people on board, was climbing out of Casablanca when an engine (Trent 772) ingested a bird prompting the crew to return to Casablanca for a safe landing.

The French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin quoting Maroc Authorities that the aircraft suffered a bird strike causing damage to an engine on takeoff from Casablanca and returned to land at Casablanca. The aircraft received minor damage. Maroc's AIB is investigating the occurrence.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground until Feb 12th, then positioned to Abu Dhabi as flight EY-612A and resumed service.
