A Private Wings Dornier Do-328-100, registration D-CPWF performing flight 8W-53 from Ingolstadt to Braunschweig (Germany) with 31 passengers and 3 crew, landed on Braunschweig's runway 26 at 18:47L (16:47Z) but struck its tail onto the runway surface causing substantial damage to the aircraft. There were no injuries.

On Feb 24th 2015 Germany's BFU released their October 2014 bulletin reporting that the first officer (59, CPL, 78 hours on type flying under supervision) was pilot flying, the captain (52, ATPL, 4,200 hours on type, 625 hours as supervising commander) was pilot monitoring. The crew had computed Vref of 115KIAS.

The crew performed an ILS approach to runway 26, the autopilot was turned off at 500 feet AGL and the approach and landing continued manually. The aircraft descended through 50 feet AGL at 120 KIAS, the flight data recorder stopped recording upon touchdown, last recorded vertical acceleration was +2.3G. The BFU reported that 2 seconds prior to touchdown a sound was audible on the cockpit voice recorder that contained the frequencies 2957 and 3057 Hertz.

Following landing and rollout the aircraft taxied to the apron with a slight bank angle to the left. After stopping at the apron and disembarkment the crew noticed the left main gear had been damaged.

The BFU reported that a bolt at the left main gear mechanism had been sheared off, the inner wheel of the left main gear had no ground contact as result. The outer tyre had evidence of abrasion at the outer side.

In addition, the BFU reported, there were abrasions at the underside of the aft fuselage along about 1.5 meters.
