A Delta Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N359NB performing flight DL-1459 from New Orleans,LA to New York La Guardia,NY (USA) with 113 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute at FL390 about 130nm southwest of Richmond,VA (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Richmond for a safe landing about 30 minutes after due to a cracked outer pane of the windshield.

The airline confirmed the windshield's outer pane was "compromised".

The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
