An Aer Lingus Airbus A320-200, registration EI-DVE performing flight EI-763 from Tenerife,CI (Spain) to Dublin (Ireland) with 160 people on board, was enroute at FL320 over the Atlantic Ocean about 25 minutes north of Porto Santo (Portugal), Madeira Islands, when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Porto Santo reporting electrical problems around a generator (engine CFM56). The aircraft landed safely at Porto Santo about 35 minutes later.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration EI-DEN reached Dublin with a delay of 9 hours.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart Porto Santo as positioning flight EI-991 about 23 hours after landing, reached Dublin about 24.5 hours past scheduled arrival and resumed service afterwards.
