An American Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N689AA performing flight AA-123 from Los Angeles,CA to Honolulu,HI (USA), was departing Los Angeles' runway 25R when the crew requested to level off at 3000 feet reporting a problem, later expaining they had a flaps problem. The aircraft returned to Los Angeles for a safe landing about 50 minutes after departure.

A second replacement Boeing 757-200 registration N184AN reached Honolulu with a delay of about 10 hours.
