An Air Serbia Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-200, registration YU-ALP performing flight JU-100 from Belgrade (Serbia) to Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) with 20 people on board, was climbing out of Belgrade when the crew received a fire indication for the left hand engine (PW124). The crew stopped the climb at about 8000 feet, shut the engine down, activated the fire suppression and returned to Belgrade for a safe landing about 15 minutes after departure.

A replacement ATR-72-212A registration YU-ALU reached Banja Luka with a delay of about 150 minutes.

Serbia's Civil Aviation Authority reported that following preliminary examination the occurrence was rated an incident, the accident investigation board is not going to open an investigation.

The airline reported about 5 minutes into the flight a technical problem occurred prompting the crew to return to Belgrade.
