A United Boeing 777-200, registration N780UA performing flight UA-951 from Brussels (Belgium) to Washington Dulles,DC (USA) with 277 passengers and 14 crew, was step climbing from FL330 through FL338 when the crew stopped the climb due to an anti-ice problem and initiated a descent, then decided to divert to London Heathrow, where the aircraft landed safely about 90 minutes after departure from Brussels.

The airport reported the crew diverted due to a de-icing problem (media reporting "the crew wasn't happy with the deicing at Brussels").

The airline confirmed a mechanical issue, the aircraft is being examined and alternate arrangements are being made to take the passengers to Washington.
