An Ural Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration VP-BMW performing flight U6-2815 from Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia) to Dushanbe (Tajikistan) with 110 passengers and 8 crew, was climbing through about 2200 meters out of Nizhniy Novgorod when the right hand engine (CFM56) failed prompting the crew to stop the climb, shut the engine down and return to Nizhniy Novgorod for a safe landing about 15 minutes after departure.

The Investigative Committee of Volga's Ministry of Transport have opened an investigation into the occurrence.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration VP-BBQ reached Dushanbe with a delay of 9 hours.
