A Jazz Canadair CRJ-705, registration C-FNJZ performing flight QK-8595 from Toronto,ON to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 65 people on board, was on approach to Winnipeg, when the crew selected the first stage of flaps, the crew received a "SLAT FAIL" message. After working the checklists the crew performed a slat 0 approach and landed safely with emergency services on stand by.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found a loose ground cable at one connector. Maintenance applied "stabilant" to all cannon plugs at the power drive unit, reset the flap system and tested the system with normal slat indications.
